Frontier Wapens & Ammunisie (Pty) Ltd, trading as Frontier Guns & Ammo, is the responsible party for personal information collected through this website and at our stores. Our Information Officer can be contacted at:

2. What we collect
- Contact details you give us in an enquiry, quotation request or order: name, email address, phone number and, if relevant, company name and province.
- Order details: the items you order, delivery or collection choice, delivery address and any notes you add.
- Payment information: card and instant EFT payments are handled by PayFast. We receive confirmation that you paid and a payment reference, never your full card details.
- Licensing information: when you buy a firearm or ammunition, the Firearms Control Act requires us to see and record your identity document, competency and licence details. This is collected at the store, not through the website.
- Technical information: our web server keeps standard logs (IP address, browser type, pages requested and the time) for security and troubleshooting.
3. Cookies and browser storage
This website does not use advertising or analytics trackers. Your cart and quote list are kept in your own browser's local storage so they survive a page reload; they are not sent to us until you place an order or send a request. A single session cookie is used only when staff log in to the administration area.
4. Why we use it
- To answer enquiries and prepare quotations.
- To process, deliver and support your orders, and to handle returns and warranty claims.
- To meet our legal obligations, including those under the Firearms Control Act, tax law and the CPA.
- To keep the website and our systems secure.
- To send you news or specials, but only if you have agreed to receive them. You can opt out at any time.
We process personal information because it is needed to perform a contract with you, to comply with the law, for our legitimate interests in running the business, or with your consent.
5. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only as needed with:
- PayFast, to process online payments;
- courier companies, to deliver your order;
- our website host (Advera Media), email provider and point-of-sale system provider, who process it on our behalf under confidentiality obligations;
- the South African Police Service and the Central Firearms Register, where the Firearms Control Act requires it;
- professional advisers, auditors and authorities where the law requires it.
Some of these providers may store information outside South Africa. Where that happens we make sure it is protected to a standard comparable to POPIA, as section 72 of POPIA requires.
6. How long we keep it
We keep order and payment records for at least five years, as tax law requires, and firearm transaction records for as long as the Firearms Control Act requires. Enquiries and quotation requests that do not lead to a sale are kept for up to two years. After that, information is deleted or anonymised.
7. How we protect it
We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access, including access controls on our systems and restricting access to staff who need it.
8. Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, to correct or delete it, or to stop processing it for direct marketing. Contact the Information Officer to do so; we may need to confirm your identity first. Some information cannot be deleted while the law requires us to keep it.
If you are not satisfied with how we handle your personal information, you may complain to the Information Regulator: inforegulator.org.za.
9. Children
This website is not intended for anyone under 18, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
10. PAIA manual
Our manual in terms of section 51 of the Promotion of Access to Information Act 2 of 2000 describes the records we hold and how to request access to them. It is available on request from the Information Officer and at our Klerksdorp store.
- Requests for access to records must be made on the prescribed form (Form 2) and sent to the Information Officer.
- A prescribed request fee and access fee may apply.
- Access may be refused on the grounds set out in PAIA, for example to protect the privacy of other people or commercially confidential information.
